POLICY – CLOSED CIRCUIT TELEVISION (CCTV) SURVEILLANCE
- This policy regulates the Company’s use of CCTV and its associated technology to monitor the premises' internal and external environments.
- CCTV surveillance is intended for uses including, but not limited to:
- Protecting the Company buildings and assets during and after working hours;
- Recording receipts and banking transactions for playback if an error has occurred;
- Monitoring trespass or unauthorized access to the premises;
- Promoting the health and safety of employees and visitors; and
- Reducing the incidence of crime (including theft and vandalism).
- The Company is obligated to collect, use, and disclose personal information in accordance with PIPA.
- Information obtained through the Company’s CCTV system will be used for internal investigations, security, and law enforcement purposes. The Company’s CCTV cameras will record video only.
- All cameras within the Company’s CCTV system are prominently visible. The Company will endeavour to display signage notifying stakeholders that they are entering an area covered by CCTV.
- The placement of any CCTV equipment will not unreasonably intrude on the privacy of individuals.
- Images may be recorded in constant real-time (24 hours a day throughout the year) or only at certain times, as the Company’s needs dictate.
- CCTV footage is stored in the camera’s internal storage and on hard drives linked to the Network Video Recorder (NVR).
- Recorded and stored footage and the monitoring equipment within the Company’s CCTV system are securely stored in a restricted area. Access to the Company’s CCTV system and stored images is restricted to authorized personnel.
- Authorized personnel who are granted access to the Company’s CCTV system will be appropriately trained in the use of the equipment and will perform their duties in accordance with this policy and any other applicable Company policies.
- Footage recorded by the Company’s CCTV system is confidential and proprietary to the Company. Any disclosure of footage to a third party shall be determined at the discretion of the Company and in accordance with PIPA.
