Burns Bog Conservation Society

Planet Ice Delta is a proud supporter of the Burns Bog Conservation Society, a not for profit organization which aims to ensure protection and sustainability of the Bog.

Planet Ice Delta supports the Burns Bog Conservation Society by providing free parking to all events and tours held at the Bog. The goal of the Society is to ensure long term protection for the Bog. They do so by educating people about the ecological benefits of the Bog and conducting educational programs including tours, field trips and summer day camps, raising awareness, obtaining funding to build a boardwalk system through the Bog, networking with leading scientists to give and distribute accurate and up-to-date information on peatlands, and attending events relation to peatland conservation.

Ride2Survive Cancer Fundraiser

Planet Ice Maple Ridge generously donates their facilities on an annual basis to host the riders of the Ride2Survive Cancer Fundraiser.

The Ride2Survive is a one-day, 388 km bike ride from Kelowna to Delta. It begins at 3:30 am and generally takes about 18 to 20 hours to complete. Over $4 million has been raised to date with 100% of the proceeds going towards cancer research.

David Foster Foundation 25th Anniversary Miracle Concert

Hosted at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre on May 26th, 2012, the sold-out David Foster Foundation 25th Anniversary Miracle Concert raised over $4m for families of children needing organ transplants and education surrounding organ donor registration in Canada and the US.

The David Foster Foundation 25th Anniversary Miracle Concert was hosted at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre on May 26th, 2012. The charity concert featured an array of artists including Josh Groban, Sarah McLachlan, Kenny G, Rueben Studdard, and The Canadian Tenors; featured guests included Muhammad Ali, Pamela Anderson and Sinbad. This sold out concert was the final of the David Foster Miracle Weekend in Victoria, B.C.

WHL Exhibition

In support of the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association and the Meadow Ridge Female Minor Hockey Association, GSL Group donated the facilities of Planet Ice Maple Ridge to host a WHL exhibition game between the Vancouver Giants and the Victoria Royals on September 10, 2011.

The event sold out as 700 people filled the stands to watch the game. In total,more than $4,000 was raised for the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association and the Meadow Ridge Female Minor Hockey Association. Proceeds from tickets sold online were donated to local hockey groups.

International Children’s Games

The 5th International Children’s Winter Games were held in Kelowna, B.C. in 2011. It was the first time the event was hosted by a city anywhere outside of Europe. The goal of the games is to enable, develop and advance the meeting, understanding and friendship of students from all around the world and to promote the Olympic ideal.

The Capital News Centre donated $3,500 worth of ice time at their facility in order to support the games. The event was a tremendous success with over 500 athletes from 37 different cities attending.

AMBLESIDE LIVE!

The Graham Lee Family Foundation conceived the concept and partnered with the Sarah McLachlan Foundation and Nettwerk Music Group, to create the first outdoor concert experience of the summer of 2009 at Ambleside Live! The headliners were Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow and Neil Young.

Since the first successful event at Ambleside Live! in West Vancouver, the venue has hosted Canadian and international artists including Kenny Chesney, Ed Sheeran, Teagan and Sara, FUN, Colbie Caillat, and Sugarland. The Graham Lee Family Foundation is the main benefactor and its intent is to use its music promotion experience and create a sustainable annual outdoor concert series that brings music and culture to communities and also helps create more economic activity to the local businesses. Working with other foundations such as the Sarah McLachlan Foundation also brings music to the lives of young Canadians by creating free music programs to youth in under-privileged areas. The goal is to use the power of music to help build self-esteem, and foster creativity. Net proceeds from these events will be invested back into the communities which have supported the event.

Kids Up Front – Charity Event

Victoria Royals’ partner with Kids Up Front, offering children a chance to attend events and participate in experiences they might not otherwise have access to.

In 1999, when Kids Up Front founder, John Dalziel was surrounded by empty seats at a world-class event, he knew there had to be a way to get kids into those seats who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to attend. John took his idea to a group of business minded individuals, the Kids Up Front idea was launched in 2000, under the leadership of Barb Radu, Executive Director.

The Victoria Royals are a proud supporter of Kids Up Front, which provides opportunities for children and their families living with a chronic or terminal illness, physical, emotional or financial difficulties, and other challenging circumstances, to attend special events within their communities.
