The Graham Lee Innovation Centre is home to Entrepreneurship@UBC, located in the new Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre at UBC, and was generously provided by the support of UBC alumnus and entrepreneur, Graham Lee , BCom 1987.
UBC alumnus and entrepreneur, Graham Lee BCom 1987, chose to support the Innovation Centre because of his belief i. entrepreneurship and innovation as the economic backbone of a community. New ways of looking at traditional businesses and successfully developing new disruptive industries will lay the foundation for our province, benefiting all students and alumni well into the future. Many great innovators, discoveries and ideas have come from UBC, and the Innovation Centre will continue to foster the university’s innovation strategy and support for new venture creation.
GST HOSTS FIRST robotics competition BC
Through Graham Lee’s connection with Dean Kamen, inventor and creator of First Robotics, this competition is now in BC and attracts more than 1,500 attendees annually including students, parents, teachers, and spectators.
GSL IDEA LAB
In the lab, we capitalize on new opportunities through its innovative and creative approach to business. We prioritize for impact, focus on initiatives that move the needle. and ground our programs in data and research. Our mission is to use technology and machine learning to connect the artists and fans together, bring communities for good causes, and help street by passers becoming neighbours to create a connected world.
INNOVATION
- Developed an autonomous system to verify ice time usage
- In-house development of LED score-clock software
- Sourcing and implementation of LED screens since 2004 providing cost effective solutions for visual effects inside and outside arenas including centre-hung score clocks
- Sourcing and implementation of electronic LCD advertising displays throughout our arenas
- One of first to implement recycling of Zamboni water
